Emily Fagan Leads Cardinals to Doubleheader Sweep

South Prince George, VA – The Cardinals bounced back with a doubleheader sweep on Tuesday. It was a great all-round showing from Catonsville, who won 10-2 and 2-0 against Richard Bland College.

Game 1

The score may not show it, but this was a close game until the later innings. The Cardinals were trailing 2-1 entering the fifth inning. But two runs in the fifth and sixth, followed by five in the seventh put this game away.

The star of the game for the Cardinals was Emily Fagan. She dominated on the mound, pitching a complete game. She went seven innings, allowing just four hits and two runs (one earned), while striking out nine batters. She also got it done with the bat, recording two hits and two RBIs.

The Cardinals received contributions all throughout their lineup, with eight different players getting hits. Alana Watts had another big day with two hits including a triple, and two RBIs. Rachel Cox also had three hits and drove in two runs.

Game 2

The offense never got going in Game 2, but it didn't matter. After throwing a complete game in Game 1, Fagan did it again in Game 2. She allowed just five hits and one walk in seven shutout innings, while striking out six batters.

The offense came from Ava Blum and Abby Webb. They recorded the only two hits and RBIs in the game for Catonsville. Richard Bland College had five hits as a team but couldn't push any runs across.

The Cardinals will come home for the first time this season when they take on Brookdale Community College on Sunday.
