CCBC Catonsville's men's basketball team advanced to the Region 20 championship on Friday, as they defeated rival CCBC Dundalk 82-76.
In a closely contested contest, the Cardinals pulled ahead by ten at the half, then held off a furious second-half comeback to defeat their sister program.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was sophomore forward Albright Obode (Plainfield). 'Big Al' scored a career-high 26 points, secured a double-double with 14 rebounds, and blocked a Dundalk shot with four minutes to go that would've given the Lions the lead.
Sophomore guards Murray Grant (Obra D. Tomkins) and Jo-Nathan Kelly (Strawberry Mansion) also had big days. Grant scored 15 points, two rebounds, and two assists, while Kelly added 11 points from the bench.
For the fourth game in a row, freshman guard Lance Porter (Randallstown) scored in double-digits with 11 points and six rebounds. Freshman guard Micah Morgan (West Nottingham) added ten points and six assists.
The Cardinals will face Howard Community College in the Region 20 championship game on Saturday.
