Cardinals Take Two in Regular Season Finale

Catonsville, MD- The Cardinals sweep the Owls in their regular season finale.

Game 1

In a dominant performance on May 3, 2025, CCBC Catonsville defeated Prince George's Community College 10-0 in Game 1 of their matchup. The game saw CCBC Catonsville's offense explode in the middle innings, as they scored 9 of their 10 runs in the 4th and 5th innings. Jaedan Kelley led the charge, going 3-for-4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI. Joel Tapia Melo added a highlight, hitting a 2-run homer in the 4th inning and driving in 3 total runs. A.J. Palumbo also contributed with a double and an RBI. On the mound, J.P. Tennant was outstanding, pitching a complete 5-inning shutout, allowing just one hit while striking out two. Prince George's Community College struggled offensively, only managing one hit and failing to score throughout the game. Anthony Williams took the loss for PGCC after allowing 9 runs in 3.2 innings of work. CCBC Catonsville's defense was solid, committing no errors, while PGCC could not capitalize on any scoring opportunities, ultimately falling short in a 10-0 defeat.

Game 2

In the second game of the doubleheader on May 3, 2025, CCBC Catonsville rallied in dramatic fashion to secure a thrilling 11-10 victory over Prince George's Community College. The game featured a series of lead changes and a dramatic finish. PGCC jumped to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, capitalizing on a walk, a fielder's choice, and an error. However, CCBC Catonsville quickly answered, with Damir Simon's RBI single cutting the deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the first. The two teams exchanged runs through the middle innings, with CCBC Catonsville eventually taking a 7-3 lead in the fourth inning thanks to a three-run homer from Gavin Faulkner. PGCC responded with three runs in the fifth, including a two-run homer by Sanchez Sands, to make it 7-6. In the seventh inning, PGCC held a 10-7 lead, but CCBC Catonsville mounted a comeback. Jaedan Kelley's three-RBI double tied the game at 10, and a sacrifice fly from Simon completed the comeback, scoring Kelley for the game-winning run. The win secured an exciting conclusion to the doubleheader, showcasing CCBC Catonsville's resilience and ability to capitalize in critical moments.

Looking ahead

The Cardinals earned the #2 seed in the region 20 DII East Division, giving them a first-round bye into postseason play. They will travel to Chesapeake College to face the winner of Anne Arundel and Southern Maryland on Friday.
