Cardinals Fall Short on the Road against Cecil College

North East, MD – The Cardinals lost both games of their doubleheader on Tuesday. Game 1 went down to the wire, with Catonsville losing 8-7. Game 2 had a final score of 7-3.

Game 1

Game 1 was a tough loss for the Cardinals. They entered the bottom of the seventh inning with a 7-5 lead, but the Cecil Seahawks put together numerous clutch at-bats to walk off the Cardinals. Justin Weaver tied the game at seven with a solo homerun, and Christian Crutch ended it with an RBI single.

The offense was great for Catonsville, recording seven runs and 12 hits. Jaedan Kelley had a great day out of the leadoff spot, going 3-4 with a homerun, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Jake Long also had a nice day going 3-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Game 2

The Cardinals failed to bounce back in Game 2. The pitching staff struggled, and the offense couldn't keep up with the Seahawks. The offense scored three runs and had seven hits, but didn't have a single extra base hit. Joel Tapia Melo, Jake Long, and Seth Mannos each had two hits for Catonsville, but the offense couldn't get the key hits when they needed to.

Hunter Sipel did a good job as the starter for Cecil. He pitched 4.2 innings, allowing just one run while striking out five. He allowed nine baserunners but did a good job navigating through the traffic to secure his second win of the season. Trent Wolf got the save for Cecil, throwing two scoreless innings to end the game.
