CCBC Catonsville vs WVU Potomac State College Game 2 Recap

On April 14th, the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals hosted the WVU Potomac State College Catamounts in a double header. The Cardinals would lose this game in a slugfest 15-12 and are now on a five-game losing streak. 

After the first two innings the Catamounts would be leading 5-0 also in the top half of the third inning, they would score another run but in the bottom half the Cardinals offense would start to chip away at the lead. To lead off the inning, Virgil Watson (Archbishop Curley) would hit and inside the park homerun then Jake Long (Arundel) would single then Tyler Sankovich (Laurel Highlands) would also single to score Long then Nick Stergiou (Broadneck) would single to score Sankovich making the score 6-3 and the Cardinals where right back in the game. 

After the Catamounts went scoreless in the top half of the fourth inning, the Cardinals picked up right where they left off. Joey Hurtado (The Villages Charter) would start the inning off with a walk then Virgil Watson would be hit by a pitch then after two outs Zach Gaynor (Reservoir) would walk to load the bases and Tyler Sankovich would reach on an error the centerfielder which would score Watson and Mannos then Nick Stergiou would double and that would score Gaynor from second and Sankovich from first and the Cardinals would take the lead 7-6. 

In the 5th inning, the Catamounts took the lead again after scoring four in the top half. In the bottom half the Cardinals would get one back as to lead off the inning Joey Hurtado would get hit by a then advance to second on a wild pitch then would steal third pitch then Vigil Watson would walk. Then Seth Mannos (Mission Viejo) would reach on a fielder's choice and that would score Hurtado from third. 

In the 6th inning, after a scoreless inning by Joel Tapia (Freedom) Tyler Sankovich would start the inning, with a leadoff single then Nick Stergiou would reach on a fielder's choice and Sankovich would advance to third. Then Trenton Snyder (Oak Park) would hit a go-ahead home run and the Cardinals took the lead going into the seventh inning. 

But unfortunately, the Cardinals couldn't hold the lead as the Catamounts would score five in the top half of the inning. But the Cardinals would try to fight back as after two quick outs Tyler Sankovich would walk and then get pinch ran for by Noah Milum (Scotland Campus) then Nick Stergiou would single, and Trenton Snyder would walk to load the bases then Milum would score on a wild pitch but then a strikeout would end the game and the Cardinals would lose 15-12 and continue their losing streak extendig it to five games.
