Ronak Rami drops 4 secs in season finale

Chester, PA - May 15, 2024

CCBC Catonsville Head Coach Mark Pryor has traveled to Widener University in Chester PA for the past two years and has been impressed with the organization and efficiency of their college T&F meets attracting schools from NY, Va, NJ, MD, DE and a large number from Pennsylvania. The small NCAA Division-II school continues to host meets that produce fast times in all events from the 400m to the 5,000m. The 2nd weekend in May has historically been a fantastic weekend for track & field has most of the schools across the country have or will be competing in their conference championships.

In his first ever visit to Widener University, it was a very fruitful trip for Freshman Ronak Rami who specializes in the distance events (1500m, 5000m, 8k). Ronak enjoyed an excellent meet at Shippensburg back in April in the 5,000m event. Now it was his time to attack the 1500m event. Prior to this meet, his PR in the 1500m was 4:31.44. Ronak got out well hitting his splits and looking good. The 3rd lap has been his albatross all season as Ronak faded to well off the pace he was instructed to follow. With 300 meters remaining in the race, Ronak launched a massive final kick and stopped the clock at 4:27.96..........roughly a :4 sec PR for 1500 meters. In high school, Ronak only ran 6:16 for a mile.

Sophomore Ethan Bush was looking to finish his career at CCBC Catonsville with another PR in the 800m. Bush ran well through 600 meters but didn't finish as fast as needed but again ran under 2:00. Coach Pryor is sad to see Ethan graduate and move on, but it has truly been a pleasure helping him reach new heights in his running, training and racing career. His classmate Keynaud Randolph is also graduating and moves on as one of the program's finest distance runners since it's reinstitution in 2015.

The 2023-24 has come to a conclusion with another program achievement in winning its first NJCAA Region 20 cross-country team title.  Both Ronak and freshman Gamaliel Adejo return from that winning team. Recruiting now takes center stage to fill the other roster spots for the Cardinals.
