Freshman Angel Ross Opens her Outdoor Track Season in 1500m
March 30, 2025 - Towson, MD.
This weekend's outdoor T&F meet at Towson University served as the season opener for Freshman Angel Ross. It has been a long road for Ross to get to this point. Head T&F Coach Mark Pryor couldn't be mad if his young freshman was nervous, but once the gun went off Ross was focused and determined.
Ross, who comes to CCBC Catonsville from Frederick Douglas HS in Prince George's County is normally an 800m specialist. Unfortunately, she has been beset by injuries since the early cross-country season where she competed only once. Yet, this young lady has remained resilient in her drive to excel on the college level.
Coach Pryor praised Ross for being consistent in her workouts from September until March that did not include any running due to her injury. Ross was a mainstay in the swimming pool, weight room, Training Room for her treatment and working hard to be ready to compete for the Cardinals.
Ross was nervous before the start of her 1500m race but proudly put on her CCBC Catonsville uniform and proceeded to place 4th out of 10 competitors in her heat. Pryor noted that the time wasn't important as was the psychological victory Ross won in competing in her first ever college track meet. Ross still has a tough road of recovery and work to regain her former shape that saw her earn All-State honors at the Maryland Outdoor T&F State Championships, but Coach Pryor is confident she won't be satisfied with just this race.
The team's next scheduled competition will return to the Towson University campus on Friday, April 4th for the Towson Senior Twilight Meet.
