Cardinals Welcome New Women's Soccer Coach

CCBC Catonsville is proud to announce that the search for a new women’s soccer coach has come to a conclusion. Join us in welcoming new head coach Chris Johnson to the Cardinals family.

Coach Johnson is the former coach of Maryland United FC from 2013 to 2023 and the former RL-Zone Coordinator for the Elite Clubs National League’s U12 and U14 teams from 2020 to 2021. Prior to his time coaching with the ECNL, Johnson served as a coach for the Freestate Soccer Alliance Youth Club from 1994 to 2013. During his time with Freestate, Johnson won the 2010 MD State Cup Championship and coached five players who went on to play for the US National team.

Johnson also served as the head coach of Archbishop Spalding’s varsity soccer program from 2007 to 2009. He has served as the youth coach for past and present MLS players, Division I college players, and US National team players.

Johnson attended Bowie High School, winning a state championship in 1987. As a youth player himself, he led his team to a finals appearance in the National Youth Club Championship Series in 1990. Johnson attended the University of Maryland, graduating in 1993 with a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences. He played professionally for the Baltimore Bays before turning to coaching.

We at CCBC Catonsville are excited to welcome Coach Johnson and look forward to him bringing our women’s soccer program back.
