Cardinals Lose to Mustangs 79-43

Catonsville, MD- CCBC Catonsville's Women's Basketball team suffered a tough defeat to Monroe University on Friday night, falling 79-43 and dropping their record to 2-11 overall (2-4 in conference play). The Cardinals struggled to find their rhythm from start to finish, as Monroe's defense and offensive efficiency proved too much for the Cardinals to overcome. Despite their best efforts, CCBC Catonsville couldn't close the gap against a well-coached and disciplined Monroe team.

A bright spot for the Cardinals was Maleyah Bell who led the way with a solid 14-point performance, while Serafina Stubbs also made a notable contribution, scoring 11 points and pulling down 6 rebounds. However, the Cardinals faced significant difficulties on offense, shooting a challenging 27% from the field. Turnovers also plagued them, as they committed 28 throughout the game, which disrupted their offensive flow and gave the Owls additional opportunities to capitalize on mistakes.

On the defensive end, the Cardinals had a tough time containing Monroe's Kaylyn Lelie, who dominated the game with 28 points on better than 50% shooting. Lelie's offensive efficiency played a key role in the outcome.

Up next for the Cardinals is an exciting home Region 20 showdown against Allegany College of Maryland. The game will tip off at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, January 29th, at the Jack Manley Wellness and Athletics Center. This matchup is an important opportunity for CCBC Catonsville to regroup and get back on track. The Cardinals will look to tighten their play and take on Allegany with a renewed determination.
