Cardinals Defense Smashes Beaver County

CCBC Catonsville's women's basketball team took care of business on Friday night, blasting past the Community College of Beaver County 68-35.

Catonsville's defense limited another opponent to under 60 points while forcing 16 turnovers and recording nine steals. Every Cardinal player scored at least two points, while three players scored in double digits.

The Cardinals won the game in the first quarter, as they outscored the Titans 24-2. Catonsville would also hold the Titans to just six points in the third quarter, making this the first time all season they had held an opponent to single digits in multiple quarters. Catonsville's defense held Beaver County to just 25.5% shooting on the night while allowing a single three-pointer.

Sophomore guard Tenea Robinson (Baltimore Poly Tech) ended the evening as the leading scorer with 21 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Sophomore forward Dasia Townes (Baltimore Poly Tech) finished the game with 21 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Freshman forward Serafina Stubbs (Owings Mills) came one rebound short of a double-double with 10 points, nine rebounds, and four steals.

Next up for the Cardinals is a match with the College of Southern Maryland on February 5.
