Catonsville, MD – The Cardinals took both games in the doubleheader Saturday against Allegany College of Maryland. The Cardinals took the first game 12-4 and took the second game in dominant fashion 17-0. Tallying a total of 29 runs in the two games, the runs were not hard to come by.
Game 1
The Cardinals win game 1 in convincing fashion after an 8 run sixth inning. Tallying 15 hits in game 1 the Cardinals did not struggle to find any offense. Emily Fagan and Riley Nace both hit a triple and scored 3 runs for the team. Alana Watts and Cassidy Barth both hit HRs and tallied a combined 4 RBIs for the team. Emily Fagan gets the win in a complete game performance while only allowing 4 runs and striking out 8.
Game 2
The Cardinals were dominant in game two winning 17-0. They started where they left off in game one tallying 9 runs in the first inning, and 6 in the second to get to an 15-0 lead early. Standout players of this game where Brianna Twigg who went 3-3 at the plate while scoring 2 runs, along with Alana Watts who hit a HR and tallied 3 RBIs. Pitching was a combined shutout from starter Emily Fagan who went 2.0 innings, followed by Makayla Ellingson who pitched 3.0 innings.
Hot Bats
The Cardinals bats were hot the whole day, scoring 29 total runs and grabbing 28 hits for the day, along with being patient and drawing 6 walks. This is great momentum going into the Tuesday doubleheader against College of Southern Maryland. The Cardinals move to 5-9 on the year.
