Big Home Runs Lead to Sweep of Howard

Big Home Runs Lead to Sweep of Howard

Coming off a solid two-game win streak, the CCBC Cardinals aimed to win game two of their doubleheader and return home with their win streak intact. They would proceed to do just that and more, as they would nearly double their score from game one to win once again versus Howard Community College.

Once again, the Cardinals played a strong game which left Howard with limited opportunity to create any batting momentum. Freshman pitcher Kayleigh Rishel (Leonardtown) returned back to the mound to pitch six strikeouts and earn herself another win on the season.

The Cardinals batters once again started out quiet until they approached the top of the third inning. Sophomore outfielder Mackenzie Brooks (Hammond) would step up to hit her third home run of the season. This would send freshman shortstop Morhgan Gross (Howard) and sophomore outfielder Abigail Heagy (Eastern Tech) to home plate along with Brooks. At the top of the fifth inning, Heagy would hit a home run to increase the score to 4-0. Brooks would make sure to add one more run before the conclusion of the inning. In the seventh inning, freshman third baseman Tori Bache (Northeast) would hit a double, allowing for Brooks and freshman outfielder Alix Alladin (Woodlawn) to give us a final score of 7–2.
