Softball hosts Second Annual Alumni Day

CATONSVILLE, Md. – The CCBC Lady Cardinals Softball team hosted the second annual Alumni Day at the Birds' Nest on Sunday Afternoon. The eventful day included the Alumni game between former Lady Cardinals and current Lady Cardinals, a postgame ceremony honoring graduating Sophomores and the day concluded with three incoming freshmen signing their letters of intent to come play for the Lady Cardinals next season.

In the alumni game, the Current Lady Cards prevailed in a high scoring affair over the Alums with the final score of 17-12. Below is the full list of former Lady Cardinals that made it out to Catonsville on Sunday afternoon, followed by the highlights of this year's game.

Following the Alumni game, the seven sophomores on the current roster were honored by head coach Chuck Slater and rest of the coaching staff. The seven graduating sophomores Alyson Hoffman, Alexa Holderfield, Hailey Manning, Amy Propst, Alleshia Pullen, Jamie Smith, and Jennifer Wolinski reflect on their time in Catonsville in the video below.

The final ceremony of the day was welcoming the next generation of Lady Cardinals as Coach Slater welcomed three players that will be part of the freshmen class in 2020. The three new Lady Cardinals are:

  • Abigail Heagy from Eastern Tech High School
  • Madison Miller from Arundel High School
  • Brittany Burke from Catholic High School

 

After honoring past, present, and future Lady Cardinals, Coach Slater recapped the big day for the Lady Cardinals Softball program.

The big day on Sunday afternoon may have been a big highlight of the season for the current Lady Cardinals this season, but they still have plenty of business left to do on the field this season.

The Lady Cardinals clinched the Maryland JUCO Conference championship on Saturday afternoon, which was their third conference title in a row. They close out the regular season on Wednesday against Northern Virginia, before hosting the 2019 NJCAA Region XX DII Softball Tournament on May 9-11. As of Sunday, the Lady Cardinals have the number one spot in the region's standings.
