Cardinals Perform Well at Hopkins / Loyola Invite - Angel Ross and Ronak Rami show improvements

The Hopkins / Loyola Invitational has become a highlighted event on the schedule for the CCBC Catonsville T&F team. Since this meet started in 2015, the weather is historically very good, the competition is fierce, and the organization is first class. No fewer than 25-30 colleges on all levels (NCAA D-I, II, III and NJCAA) descend upon the Eastern 33rd Street track and produce noteworthy results. That was the case once again for our Cardinal T&F athletes in 2025.

Freshman Angel Ross once again ran in the 1500-meter event and produced a :7 second improvement from her last performance at Towson Univ. Placing 3rd in her heat, Ross ran a patient race moving up through each lap and finishing with a nice kick. Head Coach Mark Pryor is hopefully that Ross will be able to run in her signature event (800 meters) and produce the times she is more than capable of running.

Sophomore Ronak Rami performed much better in the 5,000m run on Saturday. His last two races were not indicative of his fitness level.  Rami continues to train hard in practice and prepare physically for competition. But improvement in the mental aspect of his performances is where Rami will enjoy his best success. The middle of his races presents the biggest challenge for Rami as he must learn to fight thru that stage on the way to finishing strong. For the 5,000m event it is the 2nd mile of the 3-mile race. In the 1500m run it is the 2nd lap of the 3.5 lap race.

Cross-training has been a huge asset to this year's training as both Ross and Rami have utilized the pool for swimming workouts as well as the weight room from January thru April.  The team's next race will be The Kehoe Twilight hosted by the University of Maryland in College Park on May 2nd.
