Cardinals Lose Heartbreaker to Monroe on Sophomore Night

The CCBC Catonsville Cardinals lost to Monroe 10-9 in overtime of sophomore night on the turf field at CCBC Dundalk on Thursday, April 17, 2014.  Ethan Printy scored  the game winner at 1:37 of overtime, his 4th goal of the night.

 

Catonsville jumped out to a 5-1 lead early in the second quarter, but Monroe cut the deficit to 6-4 at the half.  After Catonsville opened the second half scoring to expand the lead to 7-4. Monroe scored five unanswered goals to open a 9-7 lead in the 4th quarter.  Jackson Fleming and Daquan Dixon scored to tie the score at 9.  Catonsville was unable to capitalize on opportunities late in regulation.

 

Jake Montgomery supported Printy with 3 goals for Monroe.  Catonsville was led by Devin Cook with 3 goals and an assist.  Tyler Westphal had 2 goals and 2 assists.

 

Coach Bill Zopp and his staff congratulated sophomores Purnell Summers, Ben Holback, Captain Trevor Eades, Kyle Beard and Grant Evans, who played their final home game for the Cardinals.
