Cardinals Set New Scoring Record In Big Win

On Tuesday, January 31st the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals hosted WVU Potomac State College. This was nearly a one-sided game as the Cardinals showed their dominance from start to finish. The Cardinals went on to defeat the Catamounts 96-78.

In the first half, Cardinals guard Keith Bullock (Washington, D.C. / Cardozo) came out on fire with ten of the 14 points, showing no mercy to the Catamounts.  Aside from Keith Bullock (dropping 31 points as a career high in a single game), the Cardinals continue to retain the lead with help from Jonathan Chester (Largo, MD), Christopher Johnson (Nassau, Bahamas / St. George's High, and Jalen Yates (Baltimore, MD / Baltimore City) making it 21-9. Despite the hot start the Cardinals had, the Catamounts found ways to capitalize on the Cardinal's mistakes. The Catamounts would bring the lead to one, making it 23-22.

The Cardinals finally responded by knocking down three three-pointers courtesy of Carlos Green (Pikesville, MD / Pikesville) and Jalen Yates. Iru Pettus (Randallstown, MD / Randallstown) came off the bench and knocked down a jump shot to give the Cardinals a seven-point lead going into the half, leaving the Catamounts desperate to pull something out of their bag for the second half.

In the second half, the Catamounts came out with some intensity as a threat to slow down the Cardinals, but it didn't go as planned. Carlos Green came out making two three-pointers (with a career high of 19pts in a single game) along with a follow up by Jalen Yates, giving the Cardinals a 12-point lead and leaving the Catamounts in distress. As the Catamounts tried to cut the lead the Cardinals kept responding. The Cardinals put the nail in the coffin with dunks by Austin Smith (Randallstown, MD / Randallstown) and Christopher Johnson for a final score of 96-78, which is a season high for the Cardinals passing their previous high of 87.
