Cardinals Dominate in Second Win of the Season
On Friday, November 11th, your Cardinals men's basketball team got their second win in a row, defeating Middlesex College 79-60.
The main man of the game once again was sophomore guard Keith Bullock (Washington D.C.). He has looked right at home on the court after missing the first two games of the season, dropping a double-double on Friday with 12 points and 11 assists. Sophomore guard/forward Maurice Smith (Owings Mills, MD) was also a bright spot on the court, racking up 12 points and four blocks on the night.
The game began slow, but the Cardinals would quickly go on a 9-0 run five minutes into the first half to go up 18-8 to the Colts. Middlesex would not quit so easily. Freshman guard Maximus Negron (Sayreville, NJ) was 2-4 from three-point range for the Colts in the first half and would make two more later in the second half. The teams were separated by less than ten points until the final two minutes of the first half with the score 39-25 in favor of Catonsville.
The Cardinals bench would have their own moments in the second half. Freshman guard Iru Pettus (Randallstown, MD) went 3-4 from the floor, scoring seven points total in the half. Freshman forward Chizitere Opara (Largo, MD) went 3-3 on field goals, totaling six points for the half.
After a dominant second half, the Cardinals would come out victorious in the end. After a shaky 0-3 start to the season, the Cardinals needed some sort of spark to get their season going, and it looks as if the fire has been lit. The team will look to extend their winning streak this Friday, November 18th as they travel down the road to Baltimore City Community college.
