Keyser, WV – The Cardinals lost a tough doubleheader on the road against WVU Potomac State. The games were close early on, but WVU pulled away late leading to a 7-2 and 8-4 loss for Catonsville.
Game 1
The offense struggled in Game 1, tallying just four hits and two runs. They were trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the fifth, but WVU pulled away with a four-run bottom of the fifth. Coby Vallee was the only Cardinal to record multiple hits, going 2-3 with an RBI.
Aidan Sites shut down the Catonsville bats for WVU, throwing seven innings of two-run ball while striking out seven batters.
Game 2
Game 2 had a very similar feeling to Game 1. The game was tied at two entering the bottom of the fifth inning, but the WVU offense broke through in the bottom of the fifth with six runs. The Cardinals put together two more runs in the top of the seventh but couldn't overcome the six-run deficit.
The offense was held down in Game 2 as well, but they received solid performances from Damir Simon and Nick Colimodio. Simon went 1-2 with a walk and two runs scored, while Colimodio when 1-2 with a double and two RBIs.
Joel Tapia Melo had a good start for the Cardinals, throwing four innings while allowing just two runs. He also struck out five batters while walking two. However, the late scoring was once again too much for Catonsville to overcome.
