Cardinals Outlast Rollins College in Extra Innings to Secure their First Win of the Season
Winter Park, Fla. – The Cardinals got their first win of the season in dramatic fashion with an extra-inning victory against Rollins College. After heading to extras in a 1-1 tie, the Cardinals exploded for seven runs in the 11th inning. They'd go on to win this one 8-1.
The Cardinals had numerous offensive contributors, starting with their leadoff hitter Jaedan Kelley. Kelley had three hits and two RBIs with a double as well. Joel Tapia Melo had three hits and two RBIs of his own, while also scoring two runs.
The pitching staff was tremendous for the Cardinals. Coby Vallee gave Catonsville a tremendous start, pitching six innings of one-run ball. He also struck out eight batters. Dominick Venta pitched the last five innings of the game, securing his first win of the season. Venta pitched five shutout innings, striking out six.
After a tough start to the season, the Cardinals got a much-needed road victory. They'll try to build off of the win on Friday against Sussex County Community College.
