CCBC Catonsville vs College of Southern Maryland game 2 recap

On Thursday May 2nd the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals hosted the College of Southern Maryland Hawks in their final regular season a double header of the year. In the second game of the double header the Cardinals would lose this game 9-6 and dropping them to the three seed heading into the Region XX tournament. 

In the first inning after the Hawks went down one, two, three the Cardinals would get two in the first after Tyler Sankovich (Laurel Highlands) singled and then advanced to second on and error by the third basemen then Trenton Snyder (Oak Park) would hit a two-run homerun making it 2-0 

In the third inning the Hawks would put of two runs, but the Cardinals would answer back with one of their own after Jake Long (Arundel) lead off the inning with a double he would advance to third on a wild pitch and then Tank Kelley (Winter Park) would hit a sacrifice fly to score Long. 

In the fourth, the Hawks put up a crooked number as they scored 7 in the inning. In the sixth the Cardinals were trying to get back into the game as they scored three. As Nick Stergiou (Broadneck) then Nelson Grajales (Arundel) would double down the left field line to move Stergiou to third the Gavin Faulkner (Edgewater) would single to center to score Stergiou then Alex Valdez (Blair) would also single to score Grajales from third then Jake Long would hit his third double of the to score Faulkner but Valdez would be thrown out at home to end the inning and it would make the score 9-6 

In the seventh after another scoreless inning, from Andrew Bubon (Lake Brantley) the Cardinals had one last chance to tie up or even win the game and it was looking good after Tank Kelley lead off with a double to left but after two quick outs Nick Stergiou would fly out to center to end the game and would lose 9-6 making them the third seed heading into the Region XX tournament. The Cardinals would finish the regular season with an overall record of 27-23 and finish with a 17-7 record in Region XX play.
