CCBC Catonsville opened their 2024 baseball season in Florida on Tuesday, falling to Seminole State College 4-3.
In a back and forth contest, the Cardinals took an early 1-0 lead, then fought back when the Raiders tied the contest twice. Knotted up at 3-3, the Cardinals would fall in the bottom of the seventh as the Raiders walked it off.
Cardinals' freshman catcher Nelson Grajales (Arundel) would place his name in the history books with the first home run of the season. Sophomore first baseman Nick Stergiou (Broadneck) finished the contest with two hits and an RBI. Sophomore pitcher Sean Driscoll (Audubon) started opening day, allowing just one earned run across five innings pitched.
