Catonsville, MD- Despite making the final four, the Cardinals season comes to an end after dropping two straight.
At #2 Frederick…. (L, 16-9):
- Jason Skeen started the game for the birds and had great run support- they would put seven on the board in the three innings Skeen was on the bump.
- Aronne Dutton led off the game with a homerun.
- Dwayne Thomas would hit his MD JUCO leading 12th homerun.
- After giving up a slew of runs, Skeen still held onto the lead. He was given rest after just 3 IP.
- Trevor Smoot took over in inning 4, and after an additional three innings was pulled from the game with the no decision.
- Connor Peters entered, and after just 1.2 innings, gave up the lead after allowing three earned runs.
- The Cardinals did not answer back, and the game ended with a score of 16-9.
Vs. #4 Garrett…. (L, 8-0):
- Garrett College would come out swinging on Catonsville started Dan Delaney in the elimination matchup. After just 2.2 IP, Delaney gave up 6 of the 8 total runs for Garrett. All earned.
- The Cardinals would only muster up 5 hits for the contest- 2 of which belonged to Dwayne Thomas.
- The game would only last 7 of the 9 scheduled innings due to run-rule.
Despite ending the season with two disappointing losses, the Cardinals were able to have success amidst the COVID-19 shutdown year. Coach Dan Blue looks forward to the fall and bringing in new recruits.
