The Cardinals drop two to the Gators

Game 1: Gators 7 (3-5), Cardinals 4 (3-1, 3-0). WP- Christian Mandic' (1-0), LP- Alex Elliott (L, 0-1)

• The Gators took the lead in the 1^st inning with a triple to left field to score a run. After they singled to center field for another RBI. Score is 2-0 Gators at the end of the 1^st.
• The game was quiet until the Gators scored on a groundout to second base in the 4^th inning to extend the lead to 3-0.
• In the 5^th inning the Gators scored on an error and brought the lead up to 4-0.
• The bats for the Cardinals finally woke up in the 6^th inning and scored off a two-run homerun. Gators lead 4-2.
• The Gators increased their lead in the 7^th inning by scoring two more runs due to a double and an error. The Cardinals answered back in the bottom of the 7^th inning by scoring on a wild pitch and an RBI groundout. This wasn't enough to make a comeback as they still lost 7-4.

Game 2: Gators 4 (4-6), Cardinals 1 (3-2, 3-0). WP- Kirkland Owens (1-0), LP- Trevor Smoot (0-1)

• The Cardinals broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the 3^rd with an RBI single to center field.
• The Gators answered back in the 4^th inning with a sacrifice flyout to score a run and tie the game at 1.
• The Gators scored a run on a fielder's choice in the 5^th inning and another run on an RBI single to shortstop. Gators lead 3-1.
• The only run scored in the 7^th inning was by the Gators and on an error. Gators won 4-1.

STANDOUT STATS

• Both Aronne Dutton and Dwayne Thomas had a hit and scored a run in the first game on Sunday.
• Sam Rodriguez had two hits which included a two-run bomb in the first game on Sunday.
• In the second game of the doubleheader Tomas Martinez pitched three innings and gave up zero earned runs with two strikeouts.
• Jacob Gerth pitched one inning with zero earned runs and two strikeouts in the second game.
• Orlando Perez Jr. had a hit and an RBI in the second game.
