Sophomore chops :2 secs off his previous 800m best

April 30, 2022 - Shippensburg, PA.

The CCBC Catonsville T&F team's performances didn't go as planned last weekend at Morgan State and John Hopkins. Since the first meet at Richmond, the athlete's times were gradually improving and moving towards the goals set in the beginning of the season. So as they say, "things were trending up".

Head Coach Mark Pryor decided to go back to the basics. A team meeting on Monday set the tone for that week's practice and the expectations for the weekend's scheduled competition at Shippensburg Univ.  At times, those hard decisions must be made. According to Coach Pryor, "that's how you earn your stripes as a coach". Knowing when to make adjustments.

Both Adam Lmansour and Ryheim Hall traveled to Pennsylvania looking to make amends for their previous races. The ride on the bus was quiet as dictated by Coach Pryor who wants his team to focus on their coming races.  Mother Nature blessed this Saturday with 70 degrees, bright sun and a slight wind. It was a perfect day for running.

Lmansour has been dealing with his fasting for Ramadan which has greatly reduced his energy level. It has affected his ability to start as fast as his competitors. He has been managing the output of the energy he does have for the warmup routine and race. Saturday, his judgement in energy output allowed him to run at the level near his best time this season.  Adam is now looking forward to his two raaces at Liberty University and Univ of Maryland to achieve his goal.

During the past week of practice, Coach Pryor sent Ryheim Hall to a local Physical Therapist to diagnose issues he has been experiencing with his stride and flexibility in his hips.  With a new set of stretching exercises and some of the blockage in his hips released, Hall was able to race free of pain and restriction which produced a two second improvement. Hall has now taken a total of :6 secs of his 800m time and is anxious to race again.

The team's next scheduled competition is only 4 days away at Liberty University in Lynchburg VA on May 4th. Coach Pryor is hoping that upward trend continues for both his athletes.
