Cardinals Secure First 2025-26 Home Victory over SUNY Niagara

Catonsville MD- The Cardinals secured their first home victory of the season in a fun 80-76 contest against SUNY Niagara CC. William DeShields led the Cardinals with 25 points going 7-12 from the field, 8-10 from the free throw line, and 3-4 from behind the arc. Kamren Hayes wasn't far behind putting in 22 points with 3 threes himself.

This was a competitive matchup from the tip, but the Cardinals would lead the first half wire to wire. Things would get chippy late in the first half with a technical foul on SUNY Niagara's Chioke Marshall leading to the end of the half. SUNY Niagara would make their run in the second half where they would take the lead at the 9-minute mark and make the contest a nail biter. Chioke Marshall would lead the charge back with 20 points as well as Steyvon Jones putting in 14 for Niagara.

Late game execution and hustle was the key for the Cardinals as they secured the final minutes to take the win at home. The Cardinals won the turnover battle and capitalized with 25 points off those turnovers. It was a complete effort with big hustle plays by Alpha Thiam, Messiah Anderson, and Yassir Supreme to shift momentum and secure the victory.

The Cardinals will look to continue their momentum in a road matchup Wednesday November 19th at Richard Bland.
