Cardinals Wrap Up Regular Season With Yet Another Defensive Domination

CCBC Catonsville's women's basketball team finished their regular season on February 28 with a defensive clash against Howard.

In a game that would decide crucial playoff seeding for either team, the Cardinals' defense held Howard to under 40 points while recording 52 rebounds and 13 steals. This impressive defensive performance, coupled with a double-double by sophomore forward Jocelyn Fogle (Hammond) led the Cardinals to a 49-39 victory and the number two seed in the Region 20 tournament.

The Cardinals' crushing defense held Howard to single-digit points in the first two quarters, while the offense rolled to a 27-15 lead at the half. Aided by a 52.4% free throw shooting day, Catonsville managed to keep the Dragons at bay despite Howard outscoring the Cardinals in the second half. It was a testament to the strength of the Cardinals defense that no matter what Howard did, they couldn't eat into the lead enough to be a serious threat.

Fogle finished the evening with 12 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Sophomore guard Tenea Robinson (Baltimore Poly Tech) finished with a game-high 16 points, four rebounds, and five steals. Sophomore forward Dasia Townes (Baltimore Poly Tech) was everywhere, collecting nine points, five rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks, while sophomore guard Kayla Cabbagestalk (Chesapeake) recorded nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

With the number two seed secured, the Cardinals will play host to Frederick Community College in the first round of the Region 20 tournament.
