Cardinals Stun Bobcats in Top-25 Win

In a major upset, CCBC Catonsville's women's basketball team stunned nationally-ranked Bryant & Stratton on Wednesday with a decisive 72-55 victory.

Facing a team that had lost just once all season, the Cardinals' defense did what they did best. Catonsville forced 28 turnovers and recorded 13 steals as they snapped the Bobcats 19-game winning streak. Catonsville also extended their own winning streak to eight games.

The Cardinals trailed 15-12 after the first quarter but got things together in the second. Catonsville outscored the Bobcats 32-3 in the second, their most lopsided quarter of the entire season. The Cardinals grabbed the lead for good early in the second when sophomore guard Tenea Robinson (Baltimore Poly Tech) iced a three-pointer from deep. With a 44-18 lead at the half, it looked like the Cardinals would be able to hold on.

Bryant & Stratton wasn't going down without a fight, though. The Bobcats held the Cardinals to just six points in the third quarter, but they couldn't seem to close the lead gap. Catonsville's offense awoke in the fourth, and the Cardinals slowly pulled away for a 72-55 shocking win.

Sophomore forward Dasia Townes (Baltimore Ploy Tech) finished with a double-double, as she scored 25 points and had ten assists. Robinson finished with 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Freshman forward Serafina Stubbs (Owings Mills) added 16 points and five rebounds.

The Cardinals have just one game left on their schedule: a showdown with Howard in a potential playoff preview.
