Cardinals Survive Tough Test From Catamounts

CCBC Catonsville's women's basketball team survived a tough test from WVU Potomac State on Wednesday night, defeating the Catamounts 66-43.

A stingy Catamount defense kept the Cardinals on their toes throughout the night but behind a strong shooting day from sophomore guard Tenea Robinson (Baltimore Poly Tech), the Cardinals survived to score their sixth straight win.

Once again, the Cardinals' dominant defense was on full display. Catonsville currently ranks second in the Region in points allowed and showcased that as they allowed just one Potomac State player to score in double digits. The Cardinals forced 18 turnovers and 17 steals, while also grabbing 37 rebounds.

Offensively, the Cardinals saw four players score in double-digits as they shot 45% from the floor. Robinson was the leading scorer with 24 points, while fellow sophomore forward Dasia Townes (Baltimore Poly Tech) nearly scored a triple-double. Townes finished the night with 15 points, six rebounds, and six assists.

Other contributors to the win included sophomore forward Jocelyn Fogle (Hammond) with ten points and eight rebounds, and freshman forward Serafina Stubbs (Owings Mills) who scored eleven points off the bench.

With a record of 17-4, the Cardinals stand alone as the best overall record in Region 20. Their next match will be against NOVA on Monday, February 19.
