Cardinals Grab Seventh Win over Frederick

CCBC Catonsville's women's basketball team is off to their best start in ten years as they defeated Frederick 65-55 last week.

Catonsville's defense forced 15 turnovers, grabbed 29 defensive rebounds, and recorded six steals as they held yet another opponent to under 60 points. The win puts the Cardinals at 7-1 on the season and in first place in Region 20.

Things got off to a slow start for the Cardinals, as they trailed after the first quarter. In the second, Catonsville's defense held Frederick to just nine points, while the offense put up 15 and pulled away. The Cardinals kept themselves well ahead of Frederick for the rest of the contest to notch the victory.

Sophomore guard Tenea Robinson (Baltimore Poly Tech) finished with 22 points, her fourth game this season scoring 20 or more points. Sophomore forward Jocelyn Fogle (Hammond) snatched 16 rebounds, her fourth double-digit rebound performance in the last five games. Sophomore forward Dasia Townes (Baltimore Poly Tech) added ten rebounds and three assists, while freshman guard Serafina Stubbs (Owings Mills) came off the bench to add ten points.

The Cardinals' next test is a weekend game against Niagara County Community College on December 9.
