Cardinals Defense Clamps Down on Falcons in Dominant Win

CCBC Catonsville's women's basketball team won their third straight game in dominant fashion on Wednesday, blasting past Lackawanna 62-36.

The Cardinals kept their opponent under 40 points for the second straight game while scoring 60+ points for the fourth straight game. Led by another offensive masterclass from sophomore guard Tenea Robinson (Poly Tech) and a strong rebounding performance from their forwards, the Cardinals will look to this upcoming weekend to keep their streak alive.

After falling behind 4-0 early, the Cardinals quickly took control in the first, as sophomore center Dasia Townes (Baltimore Poly Tech) sank a jumper to get the Cardinals on the board. After Robinson tied the game, another Townes jumper put the Cardinals ahead for good. Catonsville's defense would clamp down on the Falcons for the rest of the half, not allowing Lackawanna to reach double-digits scoring until the closing minutes of the second quarter.

Catonsville's defensive dominance extended into the third quarter, as the Falcons wouldn't score until halfway through the quarter. By then, the Cardinals already had a 20-point lead that they would only grow. With Robinson leading the offense with her fourth-straight double-digit point game, the Cardinals cruised to a 62-36 win.

Robinson ended the day with 18 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and seven steals. Sophomore forward Kayla Cabbagestalk (Chesapeake) finished as the leading scorer with 21 points for the Cardinals. Meanwhile, sophomore forward Jocelyn Fogle (Hammond) and freshman forward Serafina Stubbs (Owings Mills) each grabbed eleven rebounds. The Cardinals defense was everywhere, recording 17 steals and forcing 31 turnovers.

Next up for the Cardinals is the 401 Classic Tournament hosted by Louisburg College this weekend. The Cardinals will kick off the tournament with a showdown against Wake Tech on Saturday, November 11.
