Savage Drops Career-High 33 to Lead Lady Cardinals to Fourth-Straight Win

Catonsville, MD- The Lady Cardinals basketball team traveled to Anne Arundel Community College to take on the Riverhawks on Saturday at noon. Catonsville was looking to extend their winning streak to four.

To start the game, Myah Savage drained her first two shots from behind the arc to give the Cardinals an early 6-2 lead. After that, Anne Arundel put up 11 unanswered points to go on top 13-6 with four and a half minutes remaining in the first quarter.

However, the Cardinals refused to back down, as they came back to tie the score at 18 heading into the second quarter. The ladies would then use that momentum toward a 9-0 run to begin the second quarter, started by a Diamon Lewis layup.

At halftime, the Cardinals had a nine-point lead with the score being 42-33. Savage led the Cardinals with 19 points at the midway mark.

The third quarter was highly contested, similar to the first quarter. Catonsville outscored Anne Arundel 18-17 to give themselves a 10-point lead going into the final 10 minutes. From there, the Cardinals wouldn't look back.

Catonsville put up 23 in the fourth quarter, as opposed to the Riverhawks' 11 points, to end Saturday's game with a score of 83-61.

Savage drained six shots behind the arc, which is the most in a single game for her this season. She scored 33 total points, a new career high.

Chante Weedon was also a leader on the court, putting up 17 points of her own, while also grabbing 10 rebounds -- giving herself a double-double -- and totaling seven assists. Lewis scored 14 points and added five rebounds to her stat sheet. Akirra Pullen had 11 points and four rebounds. Theresa Sherrill only scored once with two points, but her 14 rebounds led both teams. Jasmine Johnson also grabbed 10 boards herself, while also scoring six points.

Looking to win five straight, the Lady Cardinals of CCBC Catonsville will head to Cecil College on Wednesday, February 6 to take on the Seahawks at 5:00 PM.
