Casey Turner named NJCAA DII Softball Player of the Week

CATONSVILLE, Md. – The NJCAA announced its Players of the Week for the week of March 25-31 and Casey Turner of CCBC Catonsville was named DII Softball Player of the Week, which was the first Player of the Week honor for the Lady Cardinals since the 2013 season.

The Baltimore native batted .609 during the week including nine extra base hits and driving in 15 runs to lead the Lady Cardinals to a record of 7-1 during the week. The freshman from Eastern Technical High School is having a spectacular season, she currently has the second most RBI's in the MD JUCO conference with 33 and is third in the conference in slugging percentage, with .775.

This is the first Player of the Week honor for the Lady Cardinals since the Week of April 22-28, 2013, when catcher Eleni Wright was named NJCAA DII Softball Player of the Week.

Turner and the rest of the Lady Cardinals return to the diamond on Saturday with a doubleheader against Potomac State at 1pm right here at the Birds' Nest.
