Cardinals T&F Team Host Friday Night Indoor HS Track Meet

Head Coach Mark Pryor and the Track and Field Team hosted a high school indoor track meet this past Friday, December 15^th at Manley Field House. Fourteen teams from seven different counties within Maryland traveled to Catonsville for this annual event that has been held and coordinated by Pryor since 2018. During his days as a high school coach, Coach Pryor started and was responsible for one of those successful high school invitationals in the state when he hosted the Woodlawn Warrior Invitational that attracted over 30 teams from NYC, NJ, DE, WV, Va, DC and Maryland annually in April. That meet became a staple in MD high school track for over 10 years.

 

The teams that completed in this year's Friday Night Indoor Track Meet at Catonsville included:

 

Anne Arundel County:    Arundel HS, Southern HS, Chesapeake HS

Baltimore County:       Catonsville HS, Woodlawn HS

Baltimore City:           Forest Park HS

Calvert County:          Huntingtown HS

Harford County:         Rising Sun HS

Howard County:          Athlothon HS, Long Reach HS, Wilde Lake HS, 

PG County:             Central HS, Parkdale HS, Crossland HS

 

One of the main goals of this annual event is to bring as many high school students as possible to the CCBC campus to introduce them to the school, its athletic facilities and create the possibility of those students thinking about coming to CCBC upon graduation. It is also an excellent recruiting event for Coach Pryor and his staff to see HS athletes up close and personal. 

 

This annual event also helped to create dialogue and a line of communication between our CCBC coaching staff and the different high school coaches.  This year's event was successful as all of the teams had an opportunity to compete early in the indoor track season and gauge their fitness levels.
