Adam Lmansour Sprints to Personal Bests in 100m and 200m

Adam Lmansour Sprints to Personal Bests in 100m and 200m

West Chester University hosted the Bill Butler Invitational with 13 teams from PA, VA, DE, NJ and MD participating. The weather was a warm 75 degrees and sunny.  It was excellent weather for an outdoor event and the CCBC Catonsville T&F team took advantage.

Sophomore Adam Lmansour competes primarily in the 400m dash, but Head Coach Mark Pryor decided it was an excellent opportunity to get in some short sprint work especially with the warm weather.  Running in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, Lmansour was able to work on his start, drive phase, acceleration, and relaxation in the short sprints. Running in those events is also a big help for development in the 400m events for those athletes who have fast twitch muscles.

Adam took full advantage by scoring two personal best (PBs) in both the 100m (:11.41) and 200m (:23.11) both legal wind readings.  Both races allowed Adam to utilize the starting blocks for an explosive start as well as work on the phases of sprinting. Now the plan is to put all of those pieces together of his previous races with the sprinting phases into a full 400 meter performance.  The goal in the 400m event is to run fast enough to earn a qualifying mark for the NJCAA Outdoor T&F National Championships.  Fellow soph Ryheim Hall did not compete due to difficulty in his breathing because of severe allergies.

The Cardinal T&F team will be home this weekend in Baltimore, competing at both the Morgan State Legacy meet as well as the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on April 23rd.  Both events welcome family friends and spectators to come out and support.
