Cardinals T&F Team Opens Outdoor Season in Warm Weather

 March 18, 2022 - Richmond VA.

Warm weather & sunny skies greeted the CCBC Catonsville T&F team in it's first outdoor competition at the Fred Hardy Invitational on the campus of University of Richmond; which was still buzzing after the Spider Men's basketball team upset highly seeded Iowa in last night's March Madness NCAA Tournament.

March is not always a good month for outdoor events but this year was different and a welcomed sight as the bus arrived from Baltimore.

According to Head T&F Coach Mark Pryor, this first meet is always an indicator of how their winter training has been going and where the team can go from here. The answer was an astounding "Up". Both Adam Lmansour and Ryheim Hall opened up with good results and positive performances on the track at Richmond's stadium.

Sophomore Ryheim Hall led his 800m race for 700 meters until suffering a cramp in the last 100m. Hall's performance says his overall time is not important but how he raced and executed was most pleasing to Coach Pryor.

Fellow Sophomore Adam Lmansour had been dealing with a slight injury so his training has been cautious. On Friday, he too executed his race plan according to his training and posted a time close to what he ran in May 2021. Thus telling Coach Pryor that faster times are ahead.

Both Cardinal student-athletes took advantage of this opportunity to compete against 12-15 Division-I schools, furthering their recruiting outreach after they graduate in May. One of the reasons Coach Pryor scheduled this track meet.

The team now has two (2) weeks to fine tune and put in more work before their next competition which is locally at Towson University just up 695 on April 2nd. And yet another great opportunity to race against D-I competition.

Coach Pryor believes it is always best to show steady progress in an athlete's performances as opposed to a big jump followed by a plateau. Patience and consistency is the key.

GO CARDINALS!!!!!
