Cardinals soar over Hawks for 1st home win

Catonsville, MD- The CCBC Cardinals bounced back in a big way following a tough home loss with a very impressive 4-1 victory over their conference opponent the Hagerstown Hawks. The Cardinals put together their best all around performance for their first home win of the season as they led from the 2nd minute of the game through the final.

The Cardinals got it started early with a 2nd minute goal from captain Tolulope Balogun with an assist by Mykal Hogan. The Cardinals from then on never gave up the lead as they were firing on all cylinders on both sides of the ball with great effort offensively and defensively. The cardinals continued their hot start with another goal in the 11th minute by David Nwachukwu with an assist from Balogun.

Their blazing first half start was not finished however, as in the 14th minute Nwachukwu scored another goal from a corner kick. This would halt the scoring for now as the Cardinals would end the first half with a 3-0 lead. The 2nd half saw the Hawks begin to get aggressive with a 0-3 deficit as they opened the scoring with a 54th minute goal by Maxwell Adu. The Cardinals defense would stifle the Hawks scoring from that point on allowing just the one goal.

Mykal Hogan would all but secure the win with a striker of a goal in the 71st minute giving the Cardinals their fourth of the game and would be the last of the contest, with some help from Kham Sing. This was a game where the Cardinals put it all together as they had ten shots on goal, while their defense allowed goalie Attendem Fuamazah to not be nearly as busy as Hawks goalie Braydon Blair.

The Cardinals will look to carry momentum from their great performance into a road stretch of 5 straight games. Their next outing will be on September 24th against the Carroll Community College Lynx.
