Cardinals Narrowly Lose to Seahawks

Catonsville, MD- In a hard-fought matchup, the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals came up just short in a 3-2 defeat to the Cecil College Seahawks. The Cardinals, who led twice during the game, were unable to hold off a late surge from the Seahawks, who scored the game-winning goal in the second half.

The game started with CCBC Catonsville taking the lead at 23:13, thanks to an unassisted goal by Giovanni Alonso. However, the Seahawks quickly responded, leveling the score just 19 seconds later with a goal by Chris Eichhammer.

Alonso struck again in the 26th minute, converting a penalty kick to put the Cardinals back on top, but the Seahawks tied it once more with a goal from Fernando Argueta just before halftime, sending the teams into the break at 2-2.

The decisive moment came early in the second half when Cecil College's Jannis Braun scored on a penalty kick at the 45:42 mark, giving the Seahawks the lead they would not relinquish.

Despite several attempts to equalize, including shots by Christ Dokore and Jonathon Carcamo, the Cardinals couldn't find the back of the net. Goalkeeper Atendem Fuamazah recorded one save in the second half, while Miguel Arevalo had three saves in the first.

This narrow defeat drops CCBC Catonsville to 1-6-0 on the season as they look to regroup and build on the positives from this performance. They will host Hagerstown on Thursday.
