Cardinals Soar Past Cougars, Fall to Knights in Region XX DI Tournament

Bel Air, MD- The Cardinals overcome a scoreless first half and respond with a 2-1 victory over Frederick Community College in overtime. The Cougars drew first blood in the first half with a goal from Chris Manful. The Cardinals would answer back with a goal in the second half from Malek Shedid to tie at the end of regulation.

The Cardinals would have plenty of opportunities to score with a total of twenty two shots, outnumbering the Cougars' eleven total shots. Fortunately, the Cardinals chipped in a goal within the first minute of overtime from Iliass Zouita to win the game for the squad and moved the Cardinals to the regional championship.

Goals from Shedid and Zouita will add up to eight combined goals on the year for the team as they have combined for a huge impact on the Cardinals' success this season. Werner's seven total saves at the end of overtime will tally under an impressive thirty-five saves overall on the season.

Bel Air, MD- The Cardinals put up a fight in the first half, but ultimately would fall short against the Knights. The Cardinals impressively held the Knights to one goal in the first half, only to give up four more in the second half and would be held scoreless for the match. The Cardinals were unable to match the Knights twelve total shots on goal, with only seven against them.

Three different players for the Knights tallied a goal for the club, and the Cardinals were presented with many opportunities to score, but failed to do so. Penalties also slowed down the Cardinals plan of attack against a skillful Knights team.

The Cardinals finished the year 8-10-2, finalizing a successful playoff run. They will look to improve upon this year next season and will continue to build upon the players they develop each year.
