MBB Recap: BCCC

MBB Recap: BCCC

FINAL: Catonsville: 73 Baltimore City: 82

The Cardinals entered the contest 8-3, hoping to rebound after the loss to Dundalk. This was a contest with some history behind it making it a heated contes

The begining of the game couldn't have started any better for the Cardinals by taking a 13 point lead off a pair of Murray Grant free throws. However, BCCC is a great team and chipped at the gap until they eventually took the lead 36-32 going into the second half. The beginning of the second half was a battle with BCCC trying to pull away, but the Cardinals wouldn't let them get to far. After Albright Obode made a nice layup, it brought the lead to just one point with around 4 minutes to go.. But, BCCC held onto the lead which led to Catonsville having to foul their players to get the ball back, but couldn't score on the other end. This led to the large difference in the two teams points making the final score 82-73.

What made the diffence in this game was defense. BCCC forced Catonsville to make a lot of crucial turnovers leading to the Cardinals putting up their lowest total of the season. Baltimore City's stifling defense also led the Cardinals to shooting an abysmal 15% from beyond the arc. The Cardinals also didn't have a player score over 20 points for the first time this season.

The main scorers for the Cardinals this game was Murray Grant and Jo'Nathan Kelley scoring 15 points a piece. Albright Abode was right there with them with 14 points. The Cardinals look to bounce back after the two game losing streak this Saturday against Monroe Community College.
