Basketball: Men Keep Rolling to a 4-1 Record, Women Earn First Win of the Year

CATONSVILLE, Md. -- On Tuesday night, the women and men's squads earned wins at home against Rowan College of Burlington County.

The Lady Cardinals opened the evening with a 78-35 victory that was well under control after a slow start in the first quarter.

Starting sophomore guard Kai Wyatt led the team in scoring with 24 points, 15 from behind the three-point line.

Wyatt took control of the game for her team in the second quarter, leading the team with four steals on the night.

Cheyenne Howell came off the bench to contribute 13 points, while Caitlin Alley and Dominique Kellum added 10 and nine points, respectively.

Sophomores Bijan Hiett and Jerrika Rapp led the team in rebounds with six a piece. 

The men followed with an exciting, although sloppy game at times, but they did enough to pull out the win.

Sophomore guard Montague Wright led the team in scoring with 24 points, while freshmen Everette Coker contributed 17.

Coker also led the team in rebounds against the Barons with seven, with Harvey Paige and Keith Moody contributing six and five, respectively.

The scored was tied at 57 with about eight minutes remaining in the game.

At the five minute mark, the Barons hit a to take its only lead on the night.

Down for the first time in the game must have sparked Wright, because he took control with four minutes remaining, adding three steals and rallied the the offense to put the game away.

The Cardinals hit the hardwood again on Tuesday against CCBC Dundalk.

The women tip off at 5 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m.
