Catonsville Comes Up Shy Against Harford Community College

CATONSVILLE, Md. – The CCBC Catonsville Cardinals baseball team came up just shy in a hard-fought matchup with Harford Community College, losing with a score of 5-6. This loss snaps a five game winning streak in which the Cardinals had been averaging over 16 runs per game, while only allowing an average of 3.8 runs against.

Easy Goita had a great day at the office, going 4 for 5 with two singles, a double, and a two-run shot to centerfield in the 4th inning. Goita's 2 RBIs tied for a team high with Brandon Denis, who also had a 2-run homer to centerfield. An RBI double from Moises Aristy Jr added the only other run for the Cardinals.

Kieran Garner provided the team with a solid performance from the mound, giving up only five hits and two earned runs in six innings pitched, striking out eight batters in the process. Andrew Caccamisi, Jackson Campbell, and Trevor Smoot rounded out the final few innings, as the team failed to close, giving up four runs in the final two innings.

The Cardinals will look to rebound from this performance and get back to their winning ways as they prepare to face Orange County Community College for a double-header this Saturday.
